Ailwin is a character at
now_gaming who is played by
lenabee. Nothing you read in this journal is real and only members of NP should friend it.
History: Ailwin grew up in Scotland, the child of a witch and a muggle. He was raised in the Muggle world and knew nothing of magic until he received his Hogwarts letter. He was about average at the basic subjects, excelling only at Flying his first year. He studied hard and attained above average grades for the most part. Languages had always been a passion of his and he immediately fell in love with Ancient Runes when he began taking it third year. From there on out, the majority of his time was spent on Runes and Quidditch. Once he finished school, he spent a few years playing professional quidditch and several more traveling around and researching before returning to Hogwarts where he has been teaching for the past ten years.
Hobbies & Academics: Ailwin loves quidditch. He played at Hogwarts and then professionally for a few years after he finished school. He still enjoys watching matches both professional and those at the school. Ailwin learned French and Spanish by the age of 8. He learned Elvish when he was 10. When he was in his second year, he learned to speak Gaelic. Ailwin has almost been fascinated by languages and the original or the written and spoken word, runes, etc. He spent many years traveling around the world digging up ancient artifacts and studying any runes or other engravings he found on them.
Social Life: Ailwin was quiet, but friendly as a student. He spent a good bit of time studying and playing quidditch, but he also had his fair share of friends.. and girlfriends, though he's never really been serious about anyone. His closest friend in school was Cal MacAlaister (auror_cal) who is now an Auror with the Ministry. The two meet frequently in Hogsmeade for drinks to catch up and reminisce.
Strengths/Skills: Ailwin is pretty average, magically. He attended Hogwarts as a child, got fair enough grades, traveled the world for some time before returning to teach. He is, however, exceptionally bright. He was reading and writing multiple languages by the time he was 12. He discovered a love for Ancient Runes when he took the course at Hogwarts and spent much of his traveling time after graduating on the further research into Runes and other ancient languages. He teaches Ancient Runes and has a gift for translations, languages, etc. In school he was gifted at Charms and Ancient Runes. He is about average in everything else, except for Transfiguration.
Weaknesses: He's about average in most things except for his skill in translating and interpreting things. He does have a bit of a weakness for Transfig. He can do some simple Transfig, but most advanced work is beyond him and his skill in potions is rather rudimentary as well.
Personality: Ailwin was born under the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is the eleventh house of the Zodiac and rules the circulatory system, shins, and ankles. Positive traits include brilliance, innovation, individuality, openness, social consciousness, inventiveness, practical skill, and self assertion; negative traits are eccentricity, lack of attachment to people and the "real world," over-intellectualizing of the emotions, a crotchety temper, rigidity, intellectual arrogance, and stubbornness.
The stereotypical geeks of the magical world, Ravenclaw Aquarians are noted mostly for their genius. They are gifted theorists and inventors, and highly talented students. Most wind up doing pure research after graduating from Hogwarts. Their noses are always in books of esoteric lore. Some people may laugh at them, either for their unconventional lifestyles or (more commonly) because they are obvious nerds, but they don't care. While they can have sharp tempers, especially when they encounter ignorance or stupidity, these wizards generally mean well, and have a "live and let live" philosophy. Their wit is legendary; not everybody gets the Ravenclaw Aquarian's jokes, but those who are subtle and intelligent enough find conversation with an Aquarian Ravenclaw to be quite funny, in a satirical and ironic and irreverent sort of way.
